How to Introduce Sugar Gliders

This video is for new sugar glider owners to see how the introduction process should go! If you have more than 2 gliders that need to be introduced, you will repeat this process with each connection. (A-B get introduced to each other, B-C get introduced separately, and A-C get introduced separately as well, until all matches are getting along and can be introduced as a group!)
If you have ANY questions on the compatibility of your gliders regarding age, sex, or additional factors, feel free to give us a call! We’re here to help 713-446-4415

Below is some general information to keep in mind with pairing your suggies:
*Gliders who are 4 months or younger typically get along well with other gliders 4 months or under (babies love babies)
*Sugar Glider maturity age is about 5-6 months old. If you are not wanting your gliders to breed, your males should get neutered before this age or before they are housed together with females. 2 males who grew up together, not neutered, are usually fine as long as there are NO FEMALES present. If you do have females in your group, or if you will be introducing a male who has not grown up with your other gliders, then you must neuter your male(s). Intact males are more territorial and more aggressive. They don’t typically pair up well unless the pair will be a breeding pair.
*If you are picking joeys that you intend to breed, try to get your female about 1-2 months older. Males mature quicker than females so if they are growing up together, he will be ready to mate (and usually start trying) before she will be receptive.
*Once your gliders are introduced, keep them in a fresh cage, clean and neutral from anybody’s scent. Clean wheel, toys, pouches, etc. Leave them alone for a few days (no handling!!) as they acclimate to each other and their new environment. Keep a close eye on interactions and separate if you notice any fighting. If you do have to separate the gliders, give them a few days to themselves and begin the introduction process from the top. Take things slow and try to make them as comfortable as possible.
